  You likely noticed that this new platform doesn’t use “friends” in the same way as the old site.

  ☞ Note that CONNECTIONS is the new friend feature, you can request friendship from the MEMBERS page or from a person’s profile page. (see screenshots)

  ☞ FOLLOW on the other hand is a NEW (helpful) feature that is similar to the friends component, but less personal. To follow someone a CONNECTION does not need to be accepted by the person being followed so its more casual. Similar to Twitter.

  The people you FOLLOW will then show up on the sitewide activity page and your personal profile page.
